Stephen Colbert Asks for the Googlebomb

April 18, 2007

Recently, SEOmoz wrote an article about the wonderful Stephen Colbert and his quest to be the Greatest Living American…or at least pretend to be in Google. SEOmoz is supporting a Googlebomb campaign by Alchemist Media to make Stephen Colbert show up #1 in Google’s results when you search for the term “Greatest Living American”. I’m pretty interested to see how this turns out. You can bet Google is aware of this. The questions is: Will they do anything about it?

***Update - Thank you Scott from SEOmoz for pointing out it was Alchemist Media, post has been updated to properly credit them.

In all fairness, this stunt was actually the brainchild of Jonah Stein from Alchemy Media, we at SEOmoz are just big fans of both Jonah and Colbert so we’re joining the battle.
