Get Linked In
I’m not a huge online social networking type of guy but the one social networking site where I’ve created a profile and actually intend to keep using it is LinkedIn.com. Linked In is kind of like MySpace but for grown ups. It’s kind of like Facebook but geared towards work and professionals instead of college. One of the great parts about it is that you can’t really get spammed with lots of friend requests or “connections” as LinkedIn calls them because the idea of the site is you actually have to know the person to make that connection. Either you have to have worked at the same place, gone to school together or at least know their email address. If you haven’t checked it out, give it a try. I’ve added a link to my LinkedIn profile over in my sidear.

What am I missing here? I tried linkedin and it made me upload my outlook contacts…ok so now my outlook contacts are on linkedin. I tried to contact someone on linkedin that wasn’t in “MY network” and it asked me for payment? Why am I using this again? I tried facebook and it’s a cleaner myspace…but not helpful for work. I use three sites for networking. Yahoo finance, Congoo and Zillow…because im a realtor.

I remember it trying to upload my outlook contacts and I thought that was annoying. Somehow it let me cancel that process though. The whole payment thing is strange though…never seen that. Facebook is very clean and I like what they are doing but as you said, it’s not work.

I love how you called Linked In the grown up version of myspace. It’s pretty close to the truth too.
